Customer Testimonials

Dear Prateeksha,
We had a wonderful time at Kerala;

  • Transportation vehicle and service of driver Ranjit was excellent.
  • Hotel Riveria Suites was very homely and excellent.
  • Hotel Forest Haven : Due to the ongoing refurbishing work going on, there was somewhat a bit of disturbance and dust. Otherwise location of the hotel and the food service by the restaurant staff was very good.
  • Hotel Cardomam county; Stay and food was too top class.
  • Hotel Pearl Residency: hotel rooms were very good and food was fair enough.
  • Houseboat was excellent; service was good; food was good to average; expensive fish bought by us was quite spicy. Overall stay was fantastic.
  • To sum up, the arrangements made during the tour with all aspects especially security factor (since we were a ladies group of 09 people) was very good except for minor hicupps. We have already recommended Chaitanya holidays to many people.
Thank you for the kind cooperation.
Thanks and Regards,
Rita Salian

About Kerala

The most famous performing art in kerala is Bharatha Natyam Bharatha Natyam is a South Indian classical dance form that developed chiefly in Tamil Nadu over the past three thousand years. The name Bharatha Natyam was coined in the 1930's to represent the three major elements of dance in the three syllables of the word Bharatha - bhava (facial expression), raga (melody), and tala (rhythm). Originally, this art was known as sadi or dasiattam, and was performed in Hindu temples by female dancers called devadasis, or servants of God. Performances were a part of daily rituals and religious or festive occasions, where dance was considered to be an offering to the deities. Eventually, this dance form made its way into the royal courts, and in the 18th and 19th century Thanjavur courts, Bharatha Natyam developed into its present form. A period of decline in popularity was followed by a revival of Bharatha Natyam in the 1920's and 30's, after which it found its place on the modern stage. Bharatha Natyam is known for its rhythmic, vigorous footwork, crisp movements, sculpturesque poses and combining the energy of its Nritta (rhythmic movements) with the emotion of its Nritya (expressive movements).

ChakyarKoothu is one of the eminent traditional art of Kerala which is associated which is associated with Chakyars. Historical references are interpreted regarding the Kerala art form 'Koothu'. The 'Koothu' was performed and even now continous to be performed according and injunctions laid down in the 'Natya Sastra' by 'Bharatamuni'. The principle scriptures relating to 'Chakyar Koothu' are the 'Champus' The place where the art performed is called 'Koothambalam'. Chavittu Nadakam is a folklore art practiced by Christians in some parts of Kerala state of south India. This play is popular in the Christian community spanning from Kodungallur to AmbalappuzhaThe master is known as Annavi. The whole play is performed through musicals. Kathakali is around 300 years old. Kathakali means (Katha-story, Kali-Play). Most of the plays are from the Hindu epics - Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas. Kerala owes its transnational fame to this classical dance form, which combines facets of ballet, opera, masque and the pantomime.

Kaikottikkali, is a very popular group dance of Kerala. Thiruvathirakali is performed by the women of Hindu community, often during festive seasons like Onam and the Thiruvathira day in the Malayalam month of Dhanu (December- January).One of the performers sings the first line of the Thiruvathira pattu (song) while the rest repeat it in chorus. The songs are often narrations from the folk epics. Nowadays Kaikottikkali has become popular dance form for all seasons. Kalari-Ppayattu is the ancient martial art of Kerala. The origin of Kalari-Payat is obscure, since it has been nurtured from the oldest martia1 tradition of South-India of Dravidian origin and later influenced by Aryan martial traditions, which is an off short of Dhanur-Veda (the ancient Indian Science of war).
